What would Child Care for All look like?

If every family had access to child care,
our lives would be different—and better.

Parents can work

Parents could go to work without worrying about their children’s care and earn enough money to support their families.

No more losing care

Parents would no longer have to worry about losing their child care if they lose their job.

Providers get paid

Child care providers would finally be paid enough for the essential work they do of taking care of our children.

Children thrive

And children would thrive and grow with access to quality, consistent care and early education.

YOU are eligible!

How much will care cost?

It’s free for everyone (including you)!

Too often, sliding scale systems end up creating complicated, bureaucratic hoops to jump through—preventing families from accessing the child care they really need. Our country is stronger when every family has a fair chance, and that starts with having the basic building blocks in place to raise children.

There are some things that are so fundamental that our tax dollars should cover the cost, like schools, libraries, and roads. Child care should also be treated as a public good, and it should be universal for all families. When families can succeed, communities and society as a whole benefit.

How do families access Child Care for All?

  • Families won’t need to navigate a complicated system or prove work hours or income eligibility—instead, they will enroll with their preferred child care provider.
  • No more waiting lists!
  • Families can choose whichever kind of child care they want, including from a child care center, faith-based child care, in-home daycare, or a trusted family, friend, or neighbor.
  • If you lose or change your job, you don’t lose access to child care.

How will we support child care providers?

  • Child Care for All will ensure child care jobs are excellent jobs, where providers can stay in the job they love, support their families, and thrive in their communities.
  • Child care providers are finally compensated for their critical work and have a voice in their profession, which will help ensure there are enough providers to meet the needs of families.
  • Providers would receive ongoing training and support.
  • Providers would have access to student loan forgiveness.

Who is going to pay for Child Care for All?

We can afford this program right now if the government would set the right priorities. Instead of elected officials spending billions on wars and giving new tax breaks to the ultra wealthy, we could be investing in our greatest resource: our families and our future.
